WESTMINSTER

Adams County, Colorado

My Dad could remember when Westminster was still Harris. He used to talk with pride about the progress "She" made over the years. And he loved the town, the area, and the people. This was not only where he grew up, but it was always "home".

In 1961 he was contacted to serve on the Citizen's Advisory Committee which was putting together a softback book called History of Westminster Colorado, 1911 to 1961, 50th Anniversary Edition. Without a second thought, he agreed to serve. It was one of the last major things he did in his life, and it was one of the hardest. His health was already slipping, as he was suffering from chemically induced Alzeimers - a hazard of wheat farmers who treated their own grain with mercury.

I was in junior high school at the time, and he asked me to help him. I did the typing, proofing etc of his portion of the book, as well as helping him with his speech. It was a labor of love on his part - he so loved Westminster. "She" was the greatest. And it was a labor of love on my part - I loved my father. This page, as well as all the Adams County pages, are dedicated to my father, Harold C. Thompson Sr.

The City of Westminster has very graciously given their release on any copyright that might exist in order for the book to be published here. Please visit their city website. It is one of the best!

Along with this book, I have several other Westminster related items that I will be putting up as time goes on.
