![]()
The first school in Westminster (actually in Harris, the former name of Westminster) was established in 1887 on the northeast corner of Cornell and College (80th and Lowell Blvd). It was known as Upper School. A second school was built in 1889 at Wyoming and College (72nd and Lowell. Called the Harris School, it was later named the Westminster Grade School. In 1924, they expanded with a junior high school added to the Westminster Grade School. And finally by 1929, Union High School was built adjacent to Westminster Grade School.
In May 1946, Westminster, Baker and Berkley school districts were consolidated into School District 50. By 1949, Westminster High School opened at 73rd and Lowell Blvd.
If you have early photos, class rosters etc of the early Westminster schools, we would love to put them on this site. Please contact us at adamsco-col@genealogyalongtherockies.com
