SETTLEMENTS, TRADING POSTS & WHISTLE STOPS

ORIGINAL TOWNS

The following is a list of towns I've been able to locate via GROFUTT'S GRIP-SACK GUIDE OF COLORADO, 1885, by George A. Grofutt; Lists..."every city, town, village, station, medicinal spring, resort, and important mining camp in the state." Information was also gleaned from maps dated 1895, 1920, and a current map of the State of Colorado.

Greenwood was the original name of Bent County. In 1889, Cheyenne, Otero, and Prowers Counties were created from portions of Bent County; and in 1911, Crowley County was created.
