Sarah "Sally" Mosier

According to family stories, Sarah (Sally) Eckert was from the Harper's Ferry, West Virginia area. At the time of her birth, this would have been Virginia - collaberated by two census - 1860 and 1870. The 1850 census shows PA, and the 1880 census shows nothing.

Using a photo sent by Gary Franks, we have put together a close up of the tombstone. NEW

They stayed in Fairfield County until between 1830 and 1840. They began applying for, and receiving land grants in Hancock County, Ohio between 1830 and 1836. Their son Samuel died in 1834 and is buried in Fairfield County, so we are presuming they were still in Fairfield County at that time. They were in Cass Township, Hancock County, Ohio by 1840 and made their home there. After John passed away in 1866, Sarah then moved to Marion Twp, Hancock County, Ohio near her son, Sullivan. She died on December 22, 1883 in Marion Twp, Hancock County, Ohio. Both are buried in the Baker-Hamlin Cemtery, Cass Twp, Hancock County, Ohio.

CHILDREN OF JOHN H. ECKERT AND SARAH MOSIER

John and Sarah Eckert had five children that we know of. Seeing the gaps in the birth years, I suspect there were more who probably died as infants. In addition, they adopted at least one child - Louisa E. Huffman.

The 1820 census shows one male child under ten. We do not know if this is Sullivan, and his age is recorded wrong on the tombstone.
