HEZEKIAH MADDEN
Born - August 6, 1812 in either Virginia or Maryland (date is based on tombstone inscription)
Parents -
We have been researching who the parents of Hezekian Madden were. At first, we felt as some others have that he was Thomas H. Madden, son of Dennis Madden of Muskingum County, Ohio. In the 1850 through 1870 census, Hezekiah gave his birth state as Maryland. The later census, when he was living with his daughter Mary, the birth state was given as Virginia. We obtained his birth year from his cemetery records. His census ages vary by a year or so. We have compiled a bit of Madden research which we would like to share with others. Hopefully they will help someone.
Madden Research - 1790 through 1840 census, selected entries from Maryland and Ohio
In the 1820 Census, Dennis Madden did not have a son under 10. Two other 1820 entries in Muskingum County OH, however, did: Thomas and Hezekiah. Thomas was born between 1775 and 1794. Hezekiah was born before 1775.
Dennis Madden died in 1848, and one of the names is his son Thomas. We have the will if anyone would like a copy or transcript. We will be transcribing and putting on line as well.
Married - Mary (maiden name unknown) about 1832 probably in Perry or Muskingum County Ohio. We have not found any marriage data for Hezekiah and Mary. And we have wondered if perhaps she might have been a Wilson, Fickel or a Barnett. According to her cemetery records, she was born July 7, 1804 and died July 9, 1882 in Mills County, Iowa.
Died - May 10, 1891 in Mills County, Iowa.
Burial - Malvern Cemetery (listed as Calvary Cemetery on some data)
Malvern Cemetery, Glenwood, Mills County, Iowa

We presume these two are perhaps younger brothers of Hezekiah or Mary, cousins, etc. The five-ten year old would be John H. and the under five would be Joseph. The under five female would be Martha. There are two females in the 20-30 year old bracket, again we believe a sister or other family member.
