Born - 1798, probably in South Carolina.

Based on the 1850 census. The 1860 Census says he was born TN. Later census for the children vary. Dates are from the tombstone erected by family at the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Chilton County, Alabama in his memory.

Married - 1) Gwathany, a Cherokee or Creek Native American lady and 2) Sarah Ann Kelley, widow of Moses Kelley on January 11, 1844 in Coosa County, AL.

1. We have no other information on Gwathany.

2. Saran Ann Kelley McDowell

• Born February 7, 1818 in Tennessee, Georgia or Alabama. Date is based on information sent by Steve McDowell obtained from her tombstone.

• Died June 20, 1897 in Verbana, Chilton County, Alabama

• Burial at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Chilton County, Alabama

Died - 1864 during Civil War of disease and is buried "Deal Place, Quarry Rd, near Exit 105 on I-85 near NC/SC border". He has a stone with his wife in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Chilton County, Alabama.

• Born about 1842

Note: Based on her age in the census, and the marriage date of Elisha C. McDowell and Sarah Ann Kelley (1845). And Easter is not a Kelley child as shown in the estate papers of Moses Kelley.

• Supposedly married married Elias Honey on October 2, 1859. However, Easter is listed in the 1860 Census with her parents. However, in the same 1860 US Census for that household is a E. Honey, with wife C. Honey who is 18 (see census above).

Possible other children:

Note: Based on 1850 Census, where she is listed as being four years old. In the 1860 Census, Mary is listed as being nine years old. In the 1870 Census, she is listed as twenty-two years old, and in the 1880 Census, she is listed as thirty years old.
