February 19, 1870 - James Whittle was convicted of attempted murder of James H. McElmurray, and paroled by the Governor of Georgia in September 1870.
October 1886 - James H. McElmurray of Cedar Creek was murdered. Henry Johnson was arrested for the murder, but the case was dismissed in November 1886 for lack of evidence.
Mr. Snead lists his sources as issues of the Butler Herald, October and November 1886.

Indenture 18th Nov 1865 between Sarah McElmurray of said state and county of the one part and J.H. McElmurray, son of the said Sarah McElmurry of same place. For and in consideration of the sume of $5.00 cash in hand paid, and for the consideration of the natural love and affection which she has and bears to her said son, granted parcel of land 3rd District of orginally Muscogee now Taylor County known by #154 the west half of said lot - 103 acres; also tract in same district #167 being the southwestern of the west half of said lot containing 55 acres.
