DECLARATION FOR WIDOWS PENSION

Act of June 27, 1890

This must be Executed Before a Court of Record or Some Officer Thereof Having Custody of its Seal

 

State of Maine, County of Penobscot, ss:

On this 12 day of July, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and ninety personally appeared before me, Charles E. Drew, Justice of the Peace within and for the County and State aforesaid, Hannah D. McKeen, aged 70 years, a resident of the town of Eddington, County of Penobscot, State of Maine, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of James McKeen who enlisted under the name of James McKeen at Bangor on the 27 day of April A.D. 1861 in Co C 2nd MeVols and Co B., 1 Me Hy Arty Vols. and served at least ninety days in the late war of the Rebellion, who was honorably discharged Sept 11 1865 and died Feby 4 1887.

 

That she was married under the name of Hannah D. Rowe to said James McKeen on the 28 day of May 1837 by Rev E.B. Azerill at Eddington, Maine there being no legal barrier to such marriage.

 

That she has not remarried since the death of the said James McKeen.

That she is without other means of support than her daily labor. That names and dates of birth of all the children now living under sixteen years of age of the soldier are as follows:

That she makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll of the United States under the provisions of the Act of June 27, 1890. She hereby appoints Harry J Chapman of Bangor Maine her true and lawful attorney to prosecute her claim. That her post office address is Eddington, County of Penobscot, State of Maine.
