Don's grandparents, James Percy and Melvina (Campbell) Saban, helped settle the Shell Valley in Big Horn County. They arrived in 1903, urged on by James' two brothers, Charles and George Henry. They too farmed/ranched in the Shell Valley, but later James Percy became the Shell postmaster, a job he kept until his death in 1940. Melvina was affectionately known as Lizzie in the Shell area.

In doing our research, we have at the same time gathered material that will help other Big Horn County researchers. and in so doing our project has grown into the Big Horn County History Homepage. We welcome suggestions and additions.
