MILLER - John F. Miller

Services for Riverton native John F. Miller, 72, of Casper are Thursday, Nov 2 at 1 p.m. at Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Casper. Officiating will be the Rev. Bill Moore from the First United Methodist Church of Casper. Cremation has taken place.

John F. Miller died Friday, oct 27, 2000 at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center in Casper.

John F. Miller was born April 1, 1928 on the family homestead north of Riverton, the son of Emory M. and Gertrude (McKee) Miller. He grew up and attended school in Riverton, lettering in four sports in high school.

He attended the University of Wyoming and played football for the Wyoming Cowboys in 1947 and 1948.

John served in the military during the Korean War and, after being discharged, returned to Riverton.

On Jan 13, 1951, John married Shirley Sauer in Riverton.

He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 800 in Casper.

The family says John enjoyed the mountains, hunting and fishing; however, his lifelong love was owning and operating heavy equipment.

He retired in January 1990, after 50 years of service in construction.

John F. Miller is survived by his wife, Shirley Miller, of Casper; a brother Merwin Miller and his wife of Camino, Calif; two nephews, Merwin Miller Jr and his wife of Eldorado Hills, Calif, and Tim Miller and his wife of Camarillo, Calif.; four great nephews and four great nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 4910 S Ash, Casper, 82601.

SPRAGUE - Marvin E. Sprague

Marvin E. Sprague of rural Riverton died Sunday, Oct 29, 2000, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. He was 86 years old.

Services are Wednesday, Nov 1 at 2 p.m. from the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton. The Rev. Dale Jackson and the Rev. Lawrence Berge of the Casper Alliance Church officiate. Burial follows at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton.

Viewing is Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home.

Marvin Eugene Sprague was born on Dec 7, 1913, at Gibbon, Neb., the son of Sylvester and Cora (Karsner) Sprague. He did farm work in the Gibbon area until moving to the Shelton, Neb., area in the late 1930s, where he farmed for the following 20 years. Marvin relocated within the Shelton area and continued to farm until moving to the Riverton area in 1967. Here he worked as a construction welder and mechanic for several year.

His family says he enjoyed old cars, with the 1963 Chrysler Imperial as his favorite.

Marvin is survived by Waunetta, his wife of 62 years, whom he married Oct 1, 1938, in Kearney, Neb; children Cheryl Robinson and her husband Gary of Crawford, Neb., Wanda Nordwick and her husband Don of Thermopolis, Bob Sprague and his wife Susan of Riverton and Doris Gilk and her husband, Greg., of Blackfoot, Idaho; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

BANDY - Helen Jo Bandy

Graveside services will be held at Green Lawn Cemetery in Farmington, NM at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov 3, for Riverton resident Helen Jo Bandy, who died Fraidy, Oct 27, 2000 at Wind River Healthcare Center in Riverton.

Mrs. Bandy was 69 years old, having been born Aug 17, 1931, in Stecker, Okla, the daughter of Joe William Gordon and Eva Pearl (Grimes) Gordon.

Mrs. Bandy was a cosmetologist.

Among her survivors are her husband, Kenneth Bandy, and a daughter, Rhonda Bandy of Riverton.

Services are under the direction of the Cope Funeral Home, 404 W. Arrington, Farmington, NM 87401.
