November 16, 2000 - Riverton Ranger
GROSGEBAUER - Lloyd N. Grosgebauer
Former Riverton resident, Lloyd N. Grosgebauer died Saturday, Nov 4, 2000 in Biloxi, Miss., at the age of 68.
A memorial service was 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov 14 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home in Mandan, N.D. with the Rev. Jeff Franko officiating. Burial was at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, with military rites by the Veterans of Foregin Wars and the American Legion.
Lloyd Neal "Red" Grosgebauer was born in Mandan, N.D., on April 24, 1932, the son of William and Lois (Wallace) Grosbebauer. He was raised and educated in Mandan, graduating from Mandan High School.
He attended Bismarck State College for two years and received his bachelors degree in education at Ellendale Teachers College.
He was in the Air Force from June 23, 1950 to Sept 12, 1953, where he was an aerial photographer. He then joined the Army, where he was a supply segeant and retired at Fort Leonard Wood, MO in 1992 as a staff sergeant. He also was in the National Guard starting in 1962.
Mr. Groesbegauer lived in Riverton from 1959 to 1974. He taught at Jefferson Elementary School from 1959 to 1972.
Mr. Grosgebauer took great pride in his home, yard and flowers. He was an avid photographer and took rodeo pictures in Wyoming. He was a life member of the American Legion and the VFS and a founding member of the 91st Strategic Reconnaissance Wing Assoc.
He had been a resident of the Gulf Coast for the past 10 years.
Lloyd Grosbegauer is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Laurie of Lander; a daughter and son-in-law Dawn and Mike Bartolic of Riverton; six grandchildren, Robert, Cory, Gordon and Brandi Grosgebauer and Kristopher Shippen and Tyrone Bartolic; his brother and sister-in-law, Garland and Tudy of Bismarck; sister Donna Miller of Mandan; and five nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a brother-in-law.

ANDREWS - Leland E. Andrews
Leland E. Andrews, age 89, died Sunday, Nov 12, 2000 at Morning Star Manor at Fort Washakie.
Services are pending under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton.
Leland Embert Andrews, son of Roy E. Andrews and Ida Louis (Wall) Andrews, was born Dec 2, 1910, in Dallas, SD. He attended school in South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska and California and was a member of Mensa.
Leland spent his childhood days on his parents' homestead near Newcastle, attending both rural and town schools. He was graduated from high school in Herrick, SD.
He was an accomplished pianist, professional entertainer and teacher of dance in New Orleans, Cheyenne, Rawlins, Warren Air Force Base and also served as activities director for the Cheyenne public elementary schools.
Mr. Andrews volunteered for military service with the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving as a signalman and petty officer with duty in the South Pacific.
Following World War II, he enrolled in L.A. College for a few courses in hotel management. He worked at the Ambassador Hotel, Insurance Company in los Angeles, later settled on a permanent job in a hospital near his home in Alhambra - San Gabriel Medical Center, where he worked for many years until his retirment.
Leland helped pay for his parents' house in Alhambra, acted as full-time nurse for his mother, sister Beryl and younger brother Roy for many years until their deaths, to keep them out of nursing homes. His family says he will be remembered as being the stronghold of the family. He taught his younger brothers and sisters their schoolwork, dancing and music, from ABC's to adult classes in math, cared for them when they were ill and helpless, until their death. The family says he devoted his entire life to helping friends and family with teaching, counseling, financial aid and medical assistance.
His favorite hobby is said to be horse racing, attributed to a carryover from his childhood days, when his father owned race horses. Leland was said to have become a well-known figure at racetracks especially at Santa Anita and Hollywood Park.
Upon retirment from many years of work at the San Gabriel Hospital, Leland pursued his writing and eventually become proficient in the form of poetry, with material readily accepted by publishers on both the local and national levels. He continued writing, despite the complete loss of one eye and very litle vision in the other. His family says he just felt with his fingers on his old typewriter and managed with the help of a very strong magnifying glass for proofreading. "He turned out precious gems every day." the family says.
Leland is described as having been very versatile in many lines of work - as everyone was forces to undergo during the crash of 1929 and the dire years of the Great Depression. In addition to his dedication to music and education, he worked in hotels, cafes, farms and ranch work, from clearing timber in Louisiana swamps to elevator operator in Los angeles.
Leland E. Andrews had lived in Alhambra since World War II.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, four sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by a sister, Eva H. Boedeker of Lander, numerous nices and nephews.

SNOWDEN - Richard W. Snowden
Richard W. Snowden, 69, died at his home north of Riverton Wednesday, Nov 8, 2000.
Cremation has been arranged.
Richard Wayne Snowden was born Aug 7, 1931, in Rock Springs, the son of James D. and Pauline (Robertson) Snowden.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from the Bureau of Reclamation.
His family says he loved being in the outdoors, hunting, fishing and riding his ATV.
He had been in ill health for the past two years.
Survivors include brothers Don and Terry of Lander, four nephews and one nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret; and two sisters, Margaret and Evelyn.
Professional services were by the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton.

WINFIELD - Marion 'Bud" Winfield
Marion Leon "Bud" Winfield, 65, died Nov 14, 2000, in Brooklyn, N.Y.
A memorial service is Wednesday, Nov 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Riverton Senior Citizens Center. George McMackin of the Jehovah's Witnesses officiates.
Mr. Winfield was born Feb 6, 1935 in Kansas, Okla, to Marion and Dapalean Winfield. He graduated from high school in Hanford, Calif., and lived in Tillamonk, Ore., for a few years before moving to Brooklyn, where he spent the last 40 years.
He was a member of the Jehovan's Witnesses Bethel family for more than 40 years.
Survivors include his father, Marion "Gromps" Winfield of Riverton; brother Darrell Winfield and his wife, Lennie, of Riverton; brother Ray Winfield and his wife, Billie, of Chandler, Okla; sister Barbara White and her husband, Norman of Lemoore, Calif; twin sister Marilyn Brooks of Sapulpa, Okla; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, brother Bill and brother-in-law Jerry Brooks.

STURGEON - Simon P. Sturgeon
Simon Patrick Sturgeon, 10-year old son of Shawn and Susan Sturgeon of Aurora, Colo, died Monday Nov 6, 2000 in Denver.
Simon was a fifth grade student at Mission Viejo Elementary School.
Committal of the cremated remains was at Hampden Memorial Gardens. A vigil service was Thursday, Nov 9, from the Horan and McConaty Family Chapel, with funeral mass Friday, Nov 10 from St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Aurora.
Simon was born March 7, 1990 in Englewood, Colo.
He was a member of the National Marfans Foundation and memorials may be made to the National Marfans Foundation, 382 Main St., Port Washinton, N.Y. 11050.
His family says Simon enjoyed building things with Legos and K-nex and playing the violin.
In addition to his parents, Simon Patrick Sturgeon is survived by a sister, Samantha Sturgeon, and brother, Stuart Sturgeon, of the family home in Aurora; grandparents John and Patricia Sturgeon, Donald Morrow and Delight Sturgeon, all of Lander; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were under the direction of Horan and McConaty Family Chapel, 3201 South Parker Road, Aurora, Colo., 80014-4863.

KNIGHT - M. Irene "Rene" Knight
Services for M. Irene "Rene" Knight of Riverton are Monday, Nov 20 at 10 a.m. from the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton. Burial follows at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton.
Mrs. Knight died Friday afternoon, Nov 17, 2000, at Wind River Healthcare Center in Riverton. She was 90 years old.
Myrtle Irene Knight was born in Burwell, Neb., on May 19, 1910, the daughter of William and Nellie (Woods) Carpenter. Irene met and married James Pierce "Jim" Knight, and they moved to Wyoming, where they raised their five children - Nina, Janiece, Jim, Bill and Ronnie.
But, the family says, five was not enough, and over the years they nurtured and mentored more than 50 foster children, many of whom remained for years and became true members of the Knight clan, although some of the children stayed for only brief periods of time. Richie, Billie and Wanda came as small children and spent their entire childhood in the big log house with "Mom and Dad Knight" on the Burma Road farm.
The family says, "The family farm rang with laughter when the extended families gathered together on the holidays, and the table was always grand, with flowers and vegetables from Mom's garden - the plce in which she was the most content." The family adds, "Mom never knew a stranger, and no one ever felt like one for long in her home.'
Mrs. Knight was a member of the Assembly of God faith.
They lived in Riverton from 1935 until 1980, when she moved to Soldotna, Alaska, following the death of her husband, to live with daughters, Nina and Janiece. In 1994, she returned to Riverton and made her home at the Owl Creek Apartments.
Irene is survived by her children, Nina and Janiece Knight of Soldotna, Jim Knight of Riverton, William Knight and his wife Margaret of Lake Forest, Calif.; two sisters, Nina Tenent of Casper and Geneva Sassage of Grove, Okla; one brother, Drune Carpenter of Casper; 12 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Knight; a son, Ronnie Knight; her parents, William and Nellie Carpenter; brothers Rolland and Neil Carpenter; and a sister, June Carpenter.
Memorials may be made to the Luvachild Orphanage for orphaned children in South America in care of the Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W Main St., Riverton, 82501, which has charge of arrangements.

STEWART - Robert V. Stewart
Services for longtime Milford area rancher, Robert V. Stewart are Tuesday, Nov 21 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Mount Hope, Hudson's Funeral Home in Riverton. Services will be by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. Burial follows at the family plots at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander.
Bob Stewart died Wednesday afternoon, Nov 15, 2000, at the Lander Valley Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. He was 71 years old.
Robert Vernon Stewart was born Sept 29, 1929 at Robertson, Wyo., the son of Richard and Viola Marian (Ward ) Steward. The family ranched near Robertson in the far southwest corner of Wyoming, south of Fort Bridger. The Stewart children attended Fort Bridger and Mountain View schools for a short time. The family lived at Wells, Nev., and then came to the Milford area, four miles north of Lander in July 1945.
Survivors include one brother, Danny "Doc" Stewart on the home place at Milford; a sister-in-law Ellen Dennis of Lander; nieces and their families, Joyce and Lynn Marlett of Riverton, Marily and Larry Desmond, Karen Frazier, Janet and Gene Herman and Margaret Stewart, all of Lander, and Utahna and Rick Bourne of Utah; nephews and their families, Melvin and Linda Stewart of Montana, Billie and Kellie Stewart and James "Hootie" Stewart, all of Lander, Frank and Laura Stewart of Rock Springs; numerous grand nieces and nephews, including Sarah Stewart.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Richard R. Stewart in 1948 and Jim Stewart in 1989; one sister, Merlin Alein Smith in 1966 and a niece, Deana Ileen Stewart of 1995.

BROWN - Mary Brown
Mary Brown died Saturday, Nov 18, 2000 at Wind River Healthcare in Riverton. She was 92 years old.
Graveside services are Tuesday, Nov 21, at 2 p.m. at Lakeview Cemetery in Shoshoni.
Mary Estelle Mayo (Brown) was born June 26, 1908, in Belchertown, Mass, the daughter of Clement A. Mayo and Amanda (Huard) Mayo.
She was a practical nurse.
She moved to Wyoming in the late 1970s and made her home in Bonneville. In later years, she moved to the Rendezvous Senior Apartments in Riverton and had been at the Wind River Healthcare Center for several years.
Her family says she loved to help and take care of people. While in Bonneville, she babysat for the families there. She also loved to bake and crochet, the family says.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Phil Brown.
Memorials may be made to the Rendezvous Senior apartments or to the recipient of the donor's choice.
Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton.

RUDIAKOV - Michael Rudiakov
Michael Rudiakov, a renowned musician with close ties to Riverton, died Nov 17, 2000 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Yonkers, N.Y.
Mr. Rudiakov, 66, a cellist known around the world, was en route to a rehearsal with the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra on Nov 16 when he suddenly was taken ill.
He died from a heart attack and complications early Friday morning.
He was the husband of Riverton native Judith Peck Rudiakov.
Michael Rudiakov and his family played several memorable concerts in the Robert A. Peck Arts Center Theater, the most recent a memorial in honor of his sister-in-law Margaret Peck on May 2, 1999.
Coming to play in Riverton for that concert were his wife Judith Peck Rudiakov, son Ariel, a violist; pianist Shoshana Rudiakov and bassoonist Dimitri Rudiakov.
Services will be held from the First Congregational Church at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov 21, in Manchester, VT.
Michael Rudiakov was the director of the Manchester Music Festival.
While principal cellist at the Indianapolis Symphony, he met and married Judith Carol Peck following her graduation from Indiana University.
Michael Max Rudiakov was born August 9, 1934, in Paris. He studied music with his late father Eliahu Rudiakov, a pianist, in Tel Aviv, Israel. He completed his studies at Manhattan School of Music.
He performed in concerts in most of the capitals of Europe, as well as the Soviet Union, Australia, China, India, Israel, Mexico and Canada.
He played cello in every major concert hall in New York City.
He made dozens of recordings both as a soloist and ensemble musician, and played on a Grammy Award-winning album. He also made numerous television appearances. The Brooklyn Philharmonic was a favorite of late-night talk show host David Letterman, and Mr. Rudiakov made several appearances on Letterman's CBS broadcast.
He was a faculty member at New England Conservatory in Boston, at the Manhattan School of Music, at Lehman College and Sarah Lawrence College in New York City.
For the last 20 years, Mr. Rudiakov had been director of music and manager of the Manchester Music Festival, which was founded in 1974.
The festival is the center of cultural life in southern Vermont, attracting music students from across the nation.
Survivors include his wife Judith; son Ariel of Yonkers; daughter Liselotte of Bennington, Vt.; his mother and brother from Tel Aviv, as well as the extended Peck family.
Interment will take place at the Manchester Cemetery.
Memorials in honor of Michael Rudiakov would be welcomed by the Manchester Music Festival, Box 1165, Manchester Center, Manchester, Vt., 05255.

PITT - Ellen Magdelene Pitt
Services for Ellen Magdelene Pitt of Lander are Saturday, Nov 25 at 10 a.m. from the Chapel of Mount Hope, Hudson's Funeral Home in Lander. Services will be by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with burial to follow at Mount hope Cemetery in Lander.
Mrs. Pitt died Monday, Nov 20, 2000, at the Lander Valley Medical Center. She was 83 years old.
Ellen was born in Bates County, Mo., on Feb 10, 1917, and her family says she lived a very hard life, growing up on a farm near what is now Passaic, Mo. In 1944, she came west to Wyoming with her sister and lived in the Wheatland area. She then moved back to Missouri for a short period and then returned to Wyoming, living in Rawlins until she met Lawrence Pitt, who was born in Casper. Mr. Pitt was better known in Fremont County as Raymond or Bud Pitt.
They married in Rawlins on Nov 30, 1944, and moved to Lander, where his family lived. They lived for short periods of time in several places in Wyoming, Colorado and Missouri, but always returned to Fremont County, where Raymond had his heart set on living.
The family says Ellen enjoyed many things, including the original recipe of Kentucky Fried chicken, but most of her time was spent raising her six children. The family says she loved to crochet and make other handcrafts that her children now have and will cherish.
She took pride in her modest home and yard, the family says, adding that she loved to work in her flower garden and ejoyed the many hours that it took to raise a good rose. She loved to give away starts of many of the flowers and plants that she attended to.
She made herself known in the community by volunteering for senior citizens, driving many people younger than her to those places they needed to go. She received other awards for her community service.
Ellen M. Pitt was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, in October 1982; her parents, four sisters, and one brother.
Survivors include three sisters, Anna Lockard of Kansas City, Mo., Mila Bell of Independence, Mo., and Ada Combs of West Plains, Mo.; six children, Laurence Pitt of Colstrip, Mont., Glenn Pitt of Rincoln, Ga., Gary Pitt of Elko, Nev., Marsha Burgess of colorado Springs, Colo., Mila Smith of Wamsutter and Sharla Khalar of Spokane, Wash; 20 grandchildren, Shirl Marie Morris, Teesha Shaylene Burt, Michael Dean Smith, Tabitha Ann Miller, Donald Lloyd Smith, Floyd Lee Giovetti, Niles Wesley Burgess, Carmen Marie Eicher, Steven Alan Giovetti, Vernon Lee Burgess, William Laurence Pitt, Ray Morgan Smith, Roy Clay Smith, Gary Wayne Pitt Jr., Alex Forest Alonzo Pitt, Kelly Renee Pitt, Mila Michele Santos, David Allen Pitt, Nickolas Lee Pitt, and Aisling Bessie-Ellen Pitt; 26 great grandchildren and three on the way.

SHAKESPEARE - Maurice Shakespeare
Maurice Allen "Bozo-Moe" Shakespeare, age 26, died Sunday, Nov 19, 2000 at Riverton Memorial Hospital, following an automobile accident.
Services are Friday, Nov 24 at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Ethete, with the Rev. Dave Matzko, S.J., officiating. Interment will be at Yellowcalf Cemetery at Ethete.
A rosary is Thursday, Nov 23 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with a wake to follow at the Lisa Wallowingbull resident, 732 Whitehawk Drive, Mill Creek Housing, Ethete.
Maurice Allen Shakespeare was born Dec 17, 1973, in Lander, the son of Tony and Robert Shakespeare.
He was graduated from Lander Valley High School in 1992. He attended Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence, Kan., in 1993 and 1994. From 1995 to 12996, he worked throughout Utah and Wyoming settling in the Ethete area with Lisa Wallowingbull.
He was working as a mason apprentice for Barton Construction at the time of his death.
His family says he enjoyed outdoor activites including fishing, hunting and team roping, and enjoyed being with his family and friends.
Survivors include his parents, Tony and Roberta shakespeare of Ethete; his companion, Lisa Wallowingbull of Ethete; brothers Chandler Shakespeare Sr., Avon Shakespeare Jr. and Cheryl and David Shakespeare of Ethete, Delmont Shakespeare Sr. and Ann of St. Stephen's, Crawford Shakespeare and Becky Enos of Johnstown, Alden Shakespeare Sr. and Kristin Lock of Lander, Virgil Lock and Cecil Walker of Riverton, Jim and Debbie Lock of Billings, Mont., and James Lock and his wife of Scottsdale, Ariz; sisters, Merissa Shakespeare and Ivan Pine of Ethete, Camille Shakespeare and Delinda Rameriz of Lander, and Billie Maxwell and Merle Glick Jr. of Fort Washakie; Cindy Shakespeare of the Arapahoe Ranch and Sandra and Robert Jessepe of Riverton; the families of Francis Behan Jr. of Colorado, Thomas and Mary Allen of Colorado, Ruben Behan of Wyoming, Leland and Laurdes Behan of California, and Ken and Fannie Plenty of Montana; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts.

JORDAN - W. M. 'Bill' Jordan
Longtime Fremont County resident W.M. 'Bill' Jordan died Sunday evening, Nov 19, 2000 at Riverton Memorial Hospital. He was 82 years old.
Services are Friday, Nov 24 at 11 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton. The Rev. Earl Detwiler officiates.
Bill Jordan was born near Scottsbluff, Neb., on Feb 23, 1918. He was raised in the Sand Hills of Nebraska. He left home at the age of 13. He worked on ranches and rodeos.
In the 1940s, Bill Jordan drove trucks in the oil fields and in the timber industry. Bill was in the outfitting business near Dubois during the 1950s. From 1959 through 1983, Bill owned a ranch near Burris on the Wind River. He worked on the Los Caballeros Ranch in Wickenburg, Ariz, until March 1998.
His family says Mr. Jordan enjoyed hunting, fishing, rodeos and taking care of his livestock.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Grover, killed in the Philippine Islands during World War II; and a sister, Dorothy, in 1946.
He is survived by a sister, Ruth Gurney, of Burwell, Neb; brother Royce of Burwell; brother Tod Jordan of Riverton; and a sister, Alice Dieleman of Grand Junction, Colo.
Bill has two sons, Todd of Valentine, Neb., and Gene of Riverton; three daughters, Pauline Grooms of Ord, Neb., Lela Jordan of Killeen, Texas, and Jenn Staufffenberg of Colbert, Wash; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

MATHERN - Dixie Mathern
Dixie Mathern, daughter of Evelyn Smiley of Riverton, died Monday, Nov 20, 2000 in Fort Collins, Colo, after a long fight with cancer
She was 42.
Services are scheduled Friday, Nov 24 in Fort collins. Cremation has taken place.
She was born in Thermopolis to Evelyn and Hiram Mahoney in 1958, attending school in Thermopolis and Riverton.
She married Charles Kirby of Riverton, then divorced. She then married Leonard Lindbo in South Dakota and was divorced before marrying Blaze Mathern of South Dakota.
He survives her, along with three daughters, one son, her mother, four sisters, one brother, stepfather Gordon Smiley and her father.
She was preceded in death by her younger sister, Penny Mahoney Gant.

Charlie S. "Chic" Stone died at his home in Riverton Wednesday, Nov 22, 2000 at the age of 75.

Charlie Steve Stone was born Sept 23, 1925, in Wynnewood, Okla, the son of Walter F. Stone and Maulsie Beulah (Vanderslice) Stone.
He was graduated from high school in Joy, Okla, in 1942. From 1925-1942, Mr. Stone lived in Chigley, Okla., and from 1942 to 1959 in Maywood, Calif. He moved to Wyoming in 1959, living first in Cheyenne. He moved to Kemmerer in 1962, to Lander in 1965 and Riverton in 1967.
He married the former Irene Victoria Haller.
Mr. Stone was a veteran of World War II. He was self-employed in the flooring and sheet metal business, operating as Westside Flooring and Sheetmetal.
His family says he enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses, and his grandchildren.
Mr. Stone was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cheyenne.
Survivors include a son, Mary W. Stone of Riverton; daughter Tina M. Stone of Jackson; five grandchildren; and sisters Goldena Griffen and Juanita Broom of California.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene V. Stone; a brother, Robert Stone, and a sister, Martha Love.
Memorials may be made to a recipient of the donor's choice. Arrangements are by the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton.

MILLER - Hazel L. Miller
Memorial services for former Riverton resident Hazel L. (Osborne) Miller are at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov 24, at Bustard's Funeral Home and Crematory in Casper. The Rev. Father Tom Johnson of the St. Mark's Espiscopal Church in Casper officiates.
Mrs. Miller died Monday, Nov 20, 2000 at the Central Wyoming Hospice Home in Casper after a seven-year fight against chronic lung disease and multiple schlerosis. She was 68 years old.
She was born July 10, 1932, in Worland, the daughter of Fritz and Merle Louise (Clark) Bihr. She was graduated from Meeteetse. Later she moved to Denver and attended Business College in 1950 and 1951. Hazel then worked for State Farm Insurance for over 30 years in the claims department.
Hazel met James H. Miller and they were married July 26, 1976, in Riverton. Her family says Hazel loved to travel and had enjoyed winters in Arizona. She also liked to read and go out to eat.
She is survived by her husband, Jim, of Casper; her son, William R. Osborne and family of Winnemucca, Nev; four step-children, Gloria McMurray of Rawlins, Barbara Jongsma of Sheridan, Jim Miller of Casper and Debi Martinez of Ontario, Calif; one brother, Fred Bihr, and a sister Shirley Ratliff.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Arnold Bihr, and a sister, Lenna Louise.
Memorials may be made to the Central Wyoming Hospice Program or a recipient of the donor's choice, in care of Bustard's Funeral Home, 600 CY Ave., Casper, WY 82601-3628, which has charge of arrangements.

REDMAN - Anna Redman
Anna Marie Redman, age 99, died en route between Dubois and Lander on Thursday, Nov 23, 2000.
A memorial service will be held in Dubois in December, with date and time to be announced later.
Anna Marie Meckem (Redman) was born July 18, 1901, the daughter of John and Christina (Markem) Meckem, in Crawford, Neb. After graduating high school in 1924, Anna, her sister, and two brothers moved to Dubois.
On Jan 13, 1926, she married Peter Nathan Redman in Lander.
After their marriage, they owned and operated the Dubois Lanudry for about 20 years. During World War II, the couple traveled to Arizona and California, doing work for the war effort. After the war, they moved back to Dubois.
In 1951, they bought the Rock Garden, a little cafe in Dubois now known as the Cowboy Cafe. For 13 years, the Redman family operated the Rock Garden. Peter and Anna formed the partnership with their children Duane and Shirley and their families, and together they bought the Ramshorn Restaurant and Lounge, renaming it the Westerner. After being in the restaurant business for 23 years, Anna and Peter retired in 1975.
After the death of her husband in 1982, Mrs. Redman stayed in Dubois until 1994, when she moved to Lander. She spent time at the Senior Center, and often was a winner at pinochle, earning the name "Pinochle Lady." Her family says she impressed many people in the community and other friends with her mental and physical vigor.
Anna Redman is survived by her children, Duane and Wanda Redman of Dubois and Shirley and Carl Hickerson of Lander; one brother, Edward Meckem and his wife Dorothy of Camp Verde, Ariz; five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, and one sister.
Arrangements are by Hudson's Funeral Home of Lander.

WEEKES - Ramona Weekes
Services for Ramona Weekes, age 67, were Monday morning, Nov 27, from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lander. Bishop Scott Morris presided. Burial followed at Mount Hope Cemetery in Riverton.
Ramona June Weekes died at her home in Sinks Canyon out of Lander on Wednesday, Nov 22, 2000.
She was born on March 9, 1933, in Galacia, Ill, the daughter of Ralph and Mary (Cooper) Webber. She attended Manual High School in Peoria, Ill., and married George Engelke at Christ Lutheran Church in 1950. She raised five children and was employed by Bartonville State Hospital.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.
Ramona moved to Wyoming in 1976, where she married Leland 'Slim' Weekes on Sept 20, 1985. She continued her employment in the health service field at the Wyoming State Training School.
She and Slim lived at the Double A Ranch in Sinks Canyon.
Survivors include her husband, Slim Weekes; children Joann and Marty Denevan of Houston, Alaska; Ed and Vanessa Engelke of North Perkin, Ill.; David and Martha Engelke of Highland Park, Ill.; Mary Holt of Lander, bill and Denise Engelke of Dunlap, Ill.; Ron Weeks of Belgrade, Mont.; Mont and Tami Weekes of Lima, Mont.; Ken and Francie Weekes of Greybull, Melinda and Jerry Ward of San Francisco, and Ken Weekes of Billings; 30 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents, grandson Ernie Denevan, and son-in-law James Holt.
Memorials may be made to Little Wind Hospice in care of Hudson's Funeral Home, 680 Mount Hope Drive, Lander, 82520, which has charge of the arrangements.

KOEHLER - Agnes Koehler
Former Fremont County Extension agent Agnes Koehler, 92, retired Sheridan educator, died Wednesday, Nov 15, 2000 at hospice in Lakewood, Colo.
A memorial service was Nov 20 following cremation.
She had lived with her sister in Lakewood, since her retirement in 1973.
Miss Koehler was born in Raton, N.M. in 1908. Her 42 years of teaching began at high schools in Roy and Raton, following graduation from New Mexico State University. She later graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in guidance and counseling and had additional studies at Stanford University and the University of Iowa.
She was a home demonstration agent in Lander, followed by 26 years as a senior guidance counselor at Sheridan High School.
She was a member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church and Lakewood P.E.O. Chapter EJ after her retirement, and the Retired Teachers Association.
Her interests included family genealogy, volunteer church work, sewing, baking and knitting.
She is survived by seven nieces and nephews.

GALE - Wilma Gale
Services for former Lander resident Wilma Gale will be from the Chapel of Mount Hope, Hudson's Funeral Home in Lander, on Thursday, Nov 30 at 2 p.m. Bruce Strong officiates. Burial follows at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander.
Mrs. Gale died at St. Mary's Hospice in Tucson, Ariz., on Friday, Nov. 24, 2000. She was 79 years old.
Wilma was born in Nampa, Idaho on March 4, 1921, the daughter of James Kime and Verna Agnes (Trosper) Hancock. She lived most of her life in Wyoming and was graduated from Fremont County Vocational High School in Lander with the class of 1939.
She married Maurice Isaac on April 17, 1942.
Wilma worked at the Wyoming State Training School in Lander for 14 years, retiring in 1985. She moved to Tucson in May 1985, and her family says she enjoyed many hobbies and church activities.
She is survived by children Verna M. Campbell of Oracle, Ariz., James W. Isaac of Tucson, Sylvia Strong of Matthews, Ind., and Melanie S. McCrone of Tucson; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands Maurice Isaac in June 1963 and Albert Gale in 1972; a daughter, Gaylene Wesaw Soles in 1994 and a grandson, Kevin Wesaw.
Arrangements are by Hudson's Funeral Home of Lander.
