A memorial service for former Riverton resident Cheri (Brill) Dunning is Sept 9 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Riverton. She died Aug 12, 2000 in Duluth, Minn. A luncheon follows the service at the church.

WEMPEN Jacob T. Wempen

Services for Jacob Wempen of Pavillion were Aug 30. He died Friday, Aug 25, 2000 at the Casper Medical Center. He was 20 years old.

NEELY - Joe Neely

Services for Joe Neely of Lander were Aug 30. He died at the Lander Valley Medical Center Saturday afternoon

SIMONS - Robert I. Simons

Capt Robert I. Simons, (USN-Ret) died Aug 16, 2000 in Casper

Services were held Aug 21. Mr. Simons, 77, lived in Riverton for a number of years while working for Gulf Oil Co.

HAMILTON - Dorothy Jane Hamilton

Memorial services for Dorothy Jane Hamilton of Riverton were Sept 2. Mrs. Hamilton died Monday, Aug 21, 2000 at Wind River Healthcare Center in Riverton. She was 78 years old.

WATTS - Everett L. Watts

Graveside services in Sheridan were Aug 30 for Riverton resident Everett L. Watts. Mr. Watts died at Riverton Memorial Hospital on Sunday, Aug 27, 2000 at the age of 88.

OLSON - Betty M. Olson

Services for Betty M. Olson, lifetime resident and Lander businesswoman, were Sept 1. She died Sunday, Aug 27, 2000 at the Sun Health Specialty Hospital in Thornton, Colo, a suburb of Denver, where she had been a patient for the past 15 months. She was 73 years old.

FISHER - John D. Fisher

Former Riverton resident John D. Fisher died at his home in Carson City, Nev on Friday, Aug 25, 2000. He was 56 years old. Services were Sept. 2.

ALLISON - C. J. Allison

Clarence J. "C.J." Allison of Riverton died Monday Aug 28, 2000 at Riverton Memorial Hospital. He was 55 years old. Services were Sept 1.

SCHMIDT - Edmund F. Schmidt

Former Riverton resident Edmund F. Schmidt died Saturday, Aug 26, 2000 in Littleton, Colo., at the age of 95. Services were Aug 30 in Littleton.

SISNEROS - Candido 'Candy" Sisneros

Candido "Candy" Sisneros of Riverton died Saturday, Sept 2, 2000 in Casper following a lengthy illness. He was 53 years old.

Funeral mass is Wednesday, Sept 6 at 2 p.m. from St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Riverton. Burial of cremains follows at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton.

Candido Sisneros was born Aug 11, 1946, in Riverton. He attended St. Stephen's schools and was graduated from Riverton High School in 1965.

He trained as a welder and became a journeyman welder with the Pipefitters Unions out of Casper.

His family says he enjoyed designing and constructing decorative works of wrought iron. He was an avid collector of antique memorabilia including watches, eyeglasses and knives.

Mr. Sisneros is survived by his mother, Ida Sisneros of Riverton; his father, Ray Sisneros of Casper; sisters Chris Hernandez of Nashville, Tenn., Corinne Brawley of Cheyenne and Elisabeth Stultz of Reno, Nev.; brothers Ronald Sisneros of Albuquerque, NM, and Miguel Sisneros; children Candace Sisneros of Casper and Brandon, Rumaldo and Maris Elena Sisneros of Rock Springs; and six grandchildren.

GIESLER - John D. Giesler

John D. Giesler, a retired colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve and a resident of Riverton for the past 12 years, died Saturday, Sept 2, 2000. He was 64 years old.

Services are Wednesday, Sept 6 in Laramie at the Montgomery Stryker Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the family plot in Green Hill Cemetery.

John David Giesler was born May 20, 1936 in Laramie to Roland and Lula Giesler. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 and then attended the University of Wyoming. He was graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering in 1960.

He was recalled to military duty in 1961 and served in Korea. In 1962, he moved to Albuquerque to continue studies at the University of New Mexico. As a reserve officer for 35 years, he was, at various times, in command of all New Mexico units and some in Texas.

He worked for a private contractor in Saudi Arabia immediately following the Gulf War as the head of the chemical sub-section for the safety department of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces.

Col. Giesler was a parachute instructor and a member of the Special Forces/Green Beret.

In recent years, his family says, he had developed a love of genealogy and had done extensive research into his family history.

Mr. Giesler is survived by his two sons and their wives, David and Lynette Giesler and Alan and Janell Giesler, all of Albuquerque; one daughter and her husband, Anne and Arron Menefee of Los Alamos, NM; six grandchildren, Alex and Andres Giesler, Melissa, Martin and Kaitlin Giesler of Albuquerque and Maia and Samuel Menefee of Los Alamos; and two sisters, Rosalie Flanagan of Riverton and his twin sister, Joan Marusich of Laramie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James.

C'BEARING - William C'Bearing

William C'Bearing, age 81, died Saturday, Sept 2, 2000 at Lander Valley Medical Center.

Services are Thursday, Sept 7 at 10 a.m. from St. Stephen's Mission south of Riverton, with the Revs. Matzko, S.J, Gannon, S.J. and Hilbert, S.J. officiating.

Interment will be at the St. Stephen's Catholic Cemetery, with military graveside rites by the Arapahoe American Legion Post 84.

A rosary is Wednesday, Sept 6 at 7 p.m. at St. Stephens Mission, with a wake to follow at the family resident at 1605 17-mile road.

William C'Bearing was born Aug 29, 1919, the son of Frank Coal Bearing and Monica C'Bearing. He was a lifelong resident of the Wind River Indian Reservation, living in the Arapahoe and St. Stephen's area. He attended school at St. Stephen's. Bill Bearing was a farmer and rancher.

William served in the 1105th Airborne, serving with the Screaming Eagles.

His family says he enjoyed pow wows, basketball games and was a big fan of the Wyoming Indian High School Chiefs. "He loved his grandchildren," the family says.

Survivors include daughter Margaret Littleshield of St. Stephen's; sons Leland Friday of Oklahoma City and John Goodman of Riverton; 25 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and one godchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Linus C'Bearing; sister Lucinda C'Bearing Ellis; brothers Albert C'Bearing, Charles Cole Bearing; and his grandmother, Cassie Shakespeare.

Services are by Wind Dancer of Fort Washakie, with professional services by the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton.

PAYNE - Florine E. Payne

Services for Florine E. Payne, 82, of Aurora, Color, are Wednesday morning, Sept 6 at 9:30 a.m. from the Crafton-Cantrll Chapel in Aurora. The Rev James Lee officiates, with interment in Maple Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Payne is survived by two daughters, Mary Jane Thompson of Aurora and Linda Kay Frank of Riverton; one brother, Loyd Evatt of Springfiedl, MO; one sister, Helen Scott of Springfield, Colo; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren; four half-brothers, Harold Evatt and Bill Evatt, both of Kansas City, MO, Bob Evatt and Paul Evatt, both of Mount Vernon, MO; three half-sisters, Shirley Smith of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Oleta Morgan and Stella Snell, both of Mount Vernon.

Mrs. Payne died early Sunday morning, Sept 3, 2000 at the Aurora Nursing Center, following a lengthy illness.

Florine was born Dec 30, 1917, in Clever, MO. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Aurora, a retired saleswoman and homemaker.

She married Noel Payne Oct 8, 1937 in Aurora. He preceded her in death on Aug 27, 1994.

Visitation is from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday from the Crafton Contrell Funeral Home in Aurora, which has charge of arrangements.

JONES - Michael E. Jones

Services for lifelong Lander-area resident Michael E. "Mike" Jones are Saturday, Sept 9, 2000 at 10 a.m. from the Chapel of Mount Hope, Hudsons' Funeral Home in Lander.

The Rev. Bob Eldan of Trinity Episcopal Church officiates, and burial follows in the Jones Family Cemetery.

Mike Jones died at the Lander Valley Medical Center on Tuesday, Sept 5, 2000, following a long illness. He was 40 years old.

Michael Earl Jones was born, the son of Hugh W. and Elizabeth A. (Ward) Jones, in Lander on Aug 24, 1960. Mike went on his first pack trip "into the Winds" at the age of 3. He attended Lander schools and was graduated from Lander Valley High School in 1978.

A dedicated rancher, Mike joined the family operation out of high school, and the family ways he was deeply devoted to the care of his animals.

Mike Jones was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church of Lander.

Survivors include his parents, Elizabeth Collins of Fort Washakie and Hugh and Virginia Jones of Lander; two sisters, Phyllis and Paul Miller of Green River and Nancy and John Arbenz of Lander; a brother, Thomas Jones of Lander; three nephews, one niece, cousins and uncle Alfred Ward of Fort Washakie and aunt Betty Hudson of Lander.

Services are under the direction of Hudson's Funeral Home of Lander.

DAVIS - Harold "Dave" Davis

Harold L. "Dave" Davis died early Tuesday morning, Sept 5, 2000 at the Lander VAlley Medical Center after a battle with cancer. He was 55 years old.

Services are Friday, Sept 8 at 10 a.m. from the Bethel Lutheran Church in Lander, with the Rev Don Johnson officiating. Burial follows at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander.

A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept 7 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lander.

Harold L. Davis was born Sept 19, 1944 in Fort Washakie, the son of Harold and Ella Leona (Chavez) Davis. He attended school at Fort Washakie, St. Stephens, Morton and Lander and was a 1962 traduate of Fremont County Vocational High School in Lander.

He married Judy Marie Puffe on June 4, 1968 in Lander.

Dave worked at the US Steel Mine at Atlantic City until its closure in 1985, when the family moved to Seattle to work for Jorgenson Steel until 1992. He also worked for the U.S. Post Office in Lander and Auburn, Wash., for a while.

Returning to the area in 1992, Dave worked as a maintenance mechanic for St. Stephens School from 1992 until 1999.

He was a member of the Shoshone tribe and Bethel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Judy, of Lander; children Tracy D. Knell of Lander, Anthony D. Davis of Seattle, Robin Nelson and Melton NElson of Lander; mother Leona Davis of Lander; father Harold Davis of Lander; sisters Pauline and Jo Lynn Davis of Lander; eight grandchildren, Brody, Brandon, Nick, Rosi, Noah, Tre', Drew and Jazmyne; and by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services are under the direction of Hudson's Funeral Home of Lander.

STOUT - Vincent H. Stout

Longtime Riverton resident Vincent H. Stout died Saturday, Sept 2, 2000 at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colo, of stroke-related complications. He was 77 years old.

Services will be held in Littleton at the Drinkwine Mortuary Chapel Saturday, Sept 9. Committal will be at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Casper.

Vince Stout was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1946. He graduated from the University of Colorado in Fort Collins to pursue the boom industry of oil production. Mr. Stout worked in the oil production industry for both Amoco and Atlantic Richfield. Both companies offered overseas assignments.

Vincent Stout and his family moved to Iran in the early 1970's and Indonesia, where he was an instructor on one of the world's first ocean-site natural gas prodcution plants in the late '70s. They always returned to their Riverton home, which he and his wife built in 1962.

Vincent H. Stout was born in Slater, Wyo in 1922. His family moved to Craig, Colo, where he spent most of his youth.

He is survived by sisters Theoda Dodson of Littleton and Donna Falk of Billings, Mont; two adult children, Jerry Stout in Riverton and Janine (Stout) Bolei in Littleton; three grandchildren, Andrew, Grant and Benjamin.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther (Marke) Stout of Craig, Colo, and his wife, Willene Stout, former teacher/diagnostician for Riverton School District 25.

McMICHAEL - Ray A. McMichael

Ray A. McMichael, 75, of Valdosta, Ga, died Saturday, Sept 2, 2000 at the Baptist Hospital in Sylvester, Ga.

Services were Tuesday, Sept 5, at Northside Baptist Church in Valdosta. The Revs. Ken Hall and Douglas Reddick officiated. Burial followed at Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Visitation was Monday evening from the Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta.

Ray Austin McMichael was born Sept 15, 1924, in Covington, Ga, the son of Robert L. and Bertha (Austin) McMichael.

Mr. McMichael was retired from Georgia Power and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He was a member of the Lions Club and the Northside Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betsy McMichael of Valdosta; a daughter and son in law, Nancy McMichael-Mahan and Corky Mahan of Shoshoni; son and daughter-in-law Lee and Mary McMichael of Faldosta; three grandchilren, Misti Leigh Wright and her husband, Aaron Wright, of Valdosta, Michael Hall of Shoshoni and Austin McMichael of Valdosta; two great grandchildren, Brittany Wright and Hannah Wright, both of Valdosta; two sisters, Agnes McMichael and Janice Wood, both of Lithonia, Ga; and numerous nieces and nephews.

CONEY - Betty Farlow Coney

Betty Farlow Coney, 77, died Aug 27, 2000 in Scottsdale, Ariz.

She was the daughter of the late A.J. "Stub" Farlow, renowned as the model for the cowboy aboard a bucking horse depicted on the Wyoming license plate.

She is survived by her husband, Lee of Scottsdale; a son Roger and a granddaughter Tara, Fairfax, Va.

She enlisted in the WAVES during World War II.

She and her husband were married in May 1946 in the Episcopal Chapel at Ethete.

Betty worked for many years in Washington DC for Sens. Lester C Hunt and Joseph C. O'Mahoney.

She was a competitor in duplicate bridge during her retirement years.

She attended University of Wyoming and University of Missouri.

Her obituary in the Arizona Republic recalls the story of the Wyoming license plate.

During the gubernatorial term of Lester C. Hunt, Hunt got the idea for Wyoming's license plate to depict a cowboy on a bucking horse. He gave the artist a picture of Stub Farlow on a bronc named Dead Man at the Idaho Falls rodeo. Farlow had been a professional bronc rider, twice winning the championship.

Services will be held later this fall, after winter residents return to Arizona, where she has lived the past 15 years.

DALY - C. Tom Daly

Services for former Lander resident Claude Thomas 'Tom' Daly, 82, are Saturday, Sept 9 at 11 a.m. at the Heritage Chapel, 290 W 1045 N, Cedar City, Utah. Burial follows at the Cedar City Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday evening, 6 to 8 p.m. at Southern Utah Mortuary in Cedar City, and from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Heritage Chapel on Saturday.

Tom Daly died Sunday, Sept 3, 2000, at the South Lincoln Nursing Center in Kemmerer.

Claude Thomas Daly was born Sept 1, 1918 in Panguitch, Utah the son of Sarah Estella (Hall) and James LaVerne Daly. He was raised in Panguitch by his grandparents, Elisa Frances (Callaway) and James Thomas Daly Jr.

Tom attended schools in Panguitch and St. George, Utah and was graduated from high school in St. George. He also attended the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

On Feb 15, 1939, he married Lydia Amelia Matheson in the LDS temple in St. George.

He served with the US Army Corps of Engineers during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946.

Tom worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in Utah and Nevada and then for US Steel. He and Amelia made their home in Cedar City, where five daughters were born to them.

In 1967, they moved to Lander, where Tom worked for US Steel at the Atlantic City mine until his retirement in 1981.

Tom Daly was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding a variety of positions through the years. He and his wife served two missions for the church, one in South Carolina and one at the Family History Center in Salt Lake City.

He had been a resident of Kemmerer since 1996.

Tom Daly is survived by his daughters, Sandra Christensen and her husband Wayne of Wenatchee, Wash, Ardis Rigby and her husband Warren of Cedar City, Lynda Bauman and her husband John of Santa Clara, Calif, and SuzAnn Giorgis and her husband John of Kemmerer; 22 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; four sisters, Frances Southam, Lola Mae Litster, Colleen Preece and Hazel Little; nine brothers, James A. Daly, Franklin L. Daly, Joseph L. Daly, Jay W. Daly, Leon B. Pitt, Paul M. Pitt, Warren G. Pitt, Harold P. Pitt and Edwin L. Pitt; and by special friends Ken and Linda Johnson of Lander.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter, five brothers and one sister.

Arrangements are by Southern Utah Mortuary.

BENNINGTON - Joyce C. Bennington

Joyce C. (Turnbull) Bennington died Monday, Sept 4, 2000 at Riverton Memorial Hospital. She was 88 years old.

She was born June 21, 1911, in Wellington, New Zeland.

After World War II, she married Merlwyn Bennington and they moved to the United States in 1950. She had lived in Riverton for 17 years.

Joyce is survived by a son, Philip Bennington of Rock Springs; a daughter, Merlene Hudson, and her husband, Larry, of Riverton; a grandson, Adam Bennington of Tempe, Ariz; granddaughter Heidi Bennington of Tacoma, Wash; and two great grandsons.

There will be no services, at her request.

Graveside services for interment of the cremains of Pauline D. Sanborn of Riverton are Monday, Sept 11 at 2:30 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton. Jerry Youtz officiates.

Mrs. Sanborn died Thursday Aug 31, 2000 at Wind River Healthcare Center in Riverton. She was 85 years old.

Born in Delta, Colo, on Jan 5, 1915, she was the daughter of Henry Cook and Mary (Keiling) Cook.

Pauline grew up in Wheatland, where she attended school. She left Wyoming to move to California, where she attended a business college.

She married Lewis Sanborn in 1946.

Mrs. Sanborn was a homemaker, worked at the Sport Knit dress shop for 25 years and was an avid golfer.

Following the death of her husband, she moved to Riverton.

She was preceded in death by husband Lewis, her mother and father, five brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by numerous nices and nephews.

Arrangements are by the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton.

SMITH-GARCIA - Ellen "Gypsy" Smith-Garcia

Ellen Rose "Gypsy" (Brown) Smith-Garcia, a resident of the Wind River Indian Reservation, died Monday, Sept 11, 2000 following a lengthy illness. She was 79 years old.

Services are Thursday, Sept 14 at 10 a.m. from St. Stephen's Catholic Church. Interment will be at the St. Stephen's Catholic Cemetery.

A rosary is Tuesday, Sept 12, at 7:30 p.m. from the Davis Funeral Home. A second rosary is Wednesday, Sept 13 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Stephen's. A wake follows Wednesday at her home, 46 Gas Hills Road.

Ellen was born Aug 19, 1921, at Fort Washakie, the daughter of Amy Amelia (Armajo) Brown and Hiram Axe Brown. Her paternal grandparents were Chief Lone Bear and Silver Fox Woman, and her maternal grandparents were Juan and Greta Armajo.

Ellen attended St. Stephen's Indian School, Riverton High School and Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence, Kan.

She had 15 children of her own, but raised a total of 24, and was referred to as "Mom" and "Grandma" by numerous others who loved her. Her family says that after her children were on their own, she began raising miniature dachshunds.

She kept residences in both Casper and Riverton, splitting her time between the two, which gave her the nickname of "Grandma Night Rider" by her grandchildren, as she did most of her driving at night.

Every summer, the family says, she enjoyed camping, going to pow-wows, the Arapahoe sundance and The Wyoming State Fair in Douglas. In addition, she grew large gardens and shared the produce with others.

Her family says she love Elvis Presley and his music and enjoyed collecting his memorabilia.

Survivors include a great grand aunt, Helen Cedartree; brother Francis Brown of Riverton, husband Pedro V. Services for Pat Focht of Lander are Wednesday, Sept 13 at 10 a.m. from the Evangelical Free Church of Lander.

Patricia Louise (York) Focht died at her home mid-morning Saturday, Sept 9, 2000 after a long illness. She was 67 years old.

She was born Oct 16, 1932 to Louis Raymond and Miriam (Aves) York in Marshalltown, Iowa. Pat had two young brothers, Louis Jr, who died at birth, and Bill, who died in 1954 at the age of 18.

Pat grew up on the Iowa farm, always busy doing farm chores, her family says, active in 4-H and involved in many areas of music. She earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa in 1955. During college, she was soprano soloist for the Drake Des Moines Symphony.

She began her teaching career in Marshalltown, Iowa. After her marriage to Ray Focht in 1957, they moved to the York farm at Melbourne, Iowa where they lived and riased their daughters, Laura, Lisa and Monique. Pat was well known throughout Iowa for her exceptional soprano voice and appeared in many communities as soprano solist in Handel's "Messiah" and in theater productions of the Marshalltown Community Theater.

Ray, Pat and the girls moved to Wyoming in 1973, where she continued her teaching and theater work. The family says that Pat took great personal interests in her students, encouraging them and inspiring them to excellence.

Pat is survived by her husband, Ray; daughters Laura Huggins and her husband Willie of LaBarge, Lisa Friday of Lander and Monique Mowers and her husband Don of Lander; and seven grandchildren.

WEBER - John Henry Weber

Funeral liturgy for Lyons Valley rancher John Henry Weber will be from the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lander at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept 14. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Vigil for the deceased (rosary) will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept 13, at the church.

Mr. Weber died at the family home on Monday, Sept 11, 2000. He was 84 years old.

John Henry Weber was born on June 4, 1910 in Coopersville, Mich, the son of Joseph Christoff and Rose (Streletsky) Weber. His father died during the flu epidemic in 1918. He attended school and lived in Michigan until the family moved to Cheyenne in 1931.

John married Gladys Westbrook on Feb 23, 1937, in Cheyenne. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad during the war years. He later operated the Kite Ranch in the Laramie Peak area. The family recalls surviving many hard winters, including the winter of 1949.

When the oldest child reached high school age, the Weber family moved to the Lander area in 1952 where they bought and operated their present ranch in Lyons Valley.

John Weber is described by his family as a "devoted family man who loved the large family gatherings that were so often a part of their lives," sometimes drawing close to 100 family members. The yearly branding was a special event shared by all, they say. He loved the mountains and many fishing and hunting trips through the years.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys of the family home; four sons, Jack and Pat of Jackson, Ron and Becki, Corky and Pearl and Dale, all of Lander; three daughters, Rosena and Glenn Van Patten of Jackson, Evelyn Asay of Lander and Peggy and Gary McColl of Cody; 30 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters and a grandson.

Services are under the direction of Hudson's Funeral Home of Lander.

Former Riverton resident Jamie E. Klutke, age 24, died in a motorcycle accident Thursday Sept 7, 2000 in Phoenix, Ariz. He was 24 years old.

Services are Tuesday afternoon, Sept 12, from the French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE in Albuquerque, NM. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque.

Jamie Elmer Klutke was born in Gallup NM on Thursday, Jan 29, 1976. He lived in Albuquerque and Riverton until he moved to Phoenix in December 1999. In Phoenix, he attended the Motorcycle Technical Institute, where he was an honor student.

Survivors include his mother, Artie Yellowhorse; sisters Desiree Crabtree and her husband Jimmy, and LeiLani Klutke; nephews Michael, Dominic and Little Buddie James; niece Brittney; step-father Manny Martinez; grandmothers Anna Beasley of Albuquerque and Betty Andal of Denver; aunts Lori Klutke, Mary Ann Brooks, Jane Jones, Gloria Jarnagin, Betty Yellowhorse and Sandy Klutke; uncles Shush Yellowhorse, Frank Yellowhorse, John Yellowhorse, Ross Klutke, James Jarnagin and Dennis Jones.

Charles E. "Chuck" Golden of Thermopolis died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at the home of his sister, Diane Lehto, in Riverton. It was his 59th birthday.

At his request, no services will be held, and cremation has taken place.

Charles Earl Golden was born Sept 9, 1941 in Rawlins, the son of Cebert Adam Golden and Georgia Elizabeth (Kanavle) Golden.

He served in the U.S. Navy and was a water plant operator for the town of Thermopolis.

Mr. Golden had lived in Thermopolis for 12 years. Prior to that he lived in Big Piney for 11 years and had previously lived in Worland and Seattle.

His family says Chuck Golden enjoyed the outdoors, people, fishing, dancing and golf. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Eagles Lodge in Thermopolis, the Riverton Elks and Big Piney Lions Club.

Survivors include sons Glen Hansen of Los Alamos, NM, and Greg Hansen of Hayden, Colo; a friend, Wyola; brother Carl Golden and his wife Chris of Bloomfield, NM; and a sister, Diane Lehto and her husband, Allen, of Riverton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Mrs. Strecker died Tuesday, Sept 12, 2000 at Riverton Memorial Hospital. She was 83 years old.

She was born June 16, 1917 in Mitchell, Neb the daughter of Alex and Catherine (Keller) Baumgartner.

Mrs. Strecker was a housewife and member of the Lutheran faith.

The family moved to Riverton from Worland in 1975. They originally lived in Billings and had moved to Worland in 1955.

Her family says she enjoyed flower gardening and crocheting.

Survivors include her husband, Alex; a daughter, Anna Hein of Riverton, granddaughter Diann Byers of Riverton; two great grandchildren, Joshua Byers and Shanda Byers; a brother, Phillip of Scottsbluff, Neb; numerous sisters in law; one brother in law and numerous nieces and nephews.

Herman Ambrose Walker was born July 2, 1926, Arapahoe, the son of Daniel Lorenzo Walker and Isabelle Constance Oldman. He grew up in the Ethete area of the Wind River Indian Reservation, attending school at St. Stephen's.

Mr. Walker was a carpenter, electrician, plumber and did masonry work. His family says he enjoyed playing cards, pow wows, working in his yard, doing home repairs, participating in the Arapaho sundance and enjoyed his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah, of Ethete, sisters Philimena Underwood of Mill Creek and Sophie Lavador of Salt Lake City; sons Cecil Walker of Riverton and Charles Geboe of Thermopolis; granddaughter Avis Blackie of Laramie; great grandson Rain Chippewa of Laramie; 10 other grandchildren, 11 other great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was precided in death by his parents; a daughter, Carmen Walker Fox; sons Wilbur, Emmett and Leland Walker; granddaughter Viola Geboe; and a grandson, John Deshaw III.

Norma M. Runyan was born Sept 6, 1911, in Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Ora (Moul) Runyan.

She came to Riverton in 1943 and worked as a checker at Safeway until her marrige to Raymond Laitner in Riverton Jan 7, 1954. Following that, she was a housewife.

Mrs. Laitner was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses, Morton Grange and a past member of the Diversion Dam Homemakers and the Order of the Eastern Star. Her family says she enjoyed fishing and traveling.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond, of the family home at Kinnear; brothers Robert S. runyan and his wife Lois of Odessa, Texas, and Gene Runyan of Rogers, Ark; sisters Leona Ludwick of Raymond, Kan., and Vera Thomas and her husband Thomas of Ogden, Utah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

SCHULTZ - Albert B. Schultz

Mr. Schultz died in his sleep on Tuesday, Sept 19, 2000 at Westward Heights Care Center in Lander. He was 81 years old.

Albert Bentley Schultz was born on June 14, 1919 in Spearfish SD, the son of Earl and Ruth (Bentley) Schultz. He attended elementary school and junior high in Tinton, SD and was graduated from Spearfish High School. He received a bachelor's degree from Denver University before entering the U.S. Army during World War II. During the war, he met his future wife, Madeline A. Stearns, and they were married in Montgomery Ala on July 7, 1945.

After the way, they helped with the family business in Spearfish while he simultaneously obtained a bachelor's degree in education from Black Hills Teachers College and went on to get a master's degree in educational administration at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.

His first educational position was as a teacher/principal in Cascade, Idaho. From then on, his life was primarily defined as a superintendent of schools, holding that position in Glenns Ferry, Idaho, Gillete, twice in Rawlins and in Riverton. Following his retirement, he served as a school board member for Riverton School District 25. His family says he wanted to be known not as a school administrator or superintendent, but as an "educator".

His family says he enjoyed hunting, fishing, talking with friends and being with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Glenn and Robert "Buck" and his wife, Madeline.

Albert B. Schultz is survived by his brother, Charles, of Gillette, sister Jessie Williams of Spearfish; his children, Harold and his wife Veronika, Patricia Wederski and her husband husband Rex; three grandchildren, Erika Schultz and Kristen and Paul Wederski, all of Riverton; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold Lester Nichols of Riverton died Saturday, Sept 16, 2000 at Wind River Healthcare Center in Riverton. He was 85 years old.

Cremation has taken place, and memorial services will be held at a later date.

Harold Lester Nichols was born Nov 10, 1914 in Charleston, W.Va, the son of Edward Preston Nichols and Rouie Isabella (Hall) Nichols.

Mr. Nichols served in the U.S. Army during World War II, seeing action in Italy, Southern France and the Rhineland campaigns.

His family says he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, visiting South Pass and tinkering in his garage.

He was a member of the Teamsters Union for 41 years, a past member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was a truck driver involved in interstate trucking. He had lived in Riverton for about 10 years and prior to that lived in Buffalo and Rock Springs and drove truck out of Akron, Ohio, for years.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Emma Rogers, age 92, died at Westward Neights Care Center in Lander on Sunday, Sept 17, 2000.

Emma Helena (Wise) Rogers was a lifelong resident of Hudson, born there on May 15, 1909 to Ferd and Helena Wise.

Services will be at the Hudson Community Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept 23, with the Rev. Eugene Webster officiating. Burial will follow at the Hudson Cemetery.

Prior to her marriage to John Rogers, Emma was a teacher at Willow Creek School and the Hudson Elementary School. Following her marriage, she was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and friend.

Emma is survived by two sons, Frank of Westminster, Colo, and Allan of Burke, Va; a sister, Verna Mason of Paulsbo, Wash; four grandchildren, John, Tracey, Dar and Stephanie; and a great granddaughter, Emmarie.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec 22, 1981.

Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Hudson Community Church, the Hudson Homecrafters and the Rebekah Lodge.

Norman Price was born in Sharum, Ark., on March 9, 1925, the son of Marion Agusta Price and Emma Peachie Texanna (Clayton) Price.

Mr. Price service in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later made a career as an iron worker.

His family says he enjoyed hunting and fishing and shooting pool.

Aaron was born in Lander Aug 8, 1996, the son of Robert Coulston and Victoria Panzetanga. He grew up on the Wind River Indian Reservation at Fort Washakie and was attending Fort Washakie Head Start this year. His family says he loved riding his bicycle, playing with his friends, going fishing "and enjoyed just being a little boy."

Survivors include his parents, Robert Coulston and Victoria Panzetanga of Fort Washakie; sisters Jaencece Coulston and Kylee Panzetanga of Fort Washakie; brothers Justin and Dustin Coulson of Lander; grandparents Ted Hebah and Lilayne (Coose) Hereford of Fort Washakie and Barbara Coulston of Ethete, great grandparents Lizzie Panzetanga, Lillian Hereford and Adeline Armour of Fort Washakie; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Delbert L. Derby of Lander died Friday, Sept 22, 2000 at the Lander Valley Medical Center. He was 71 years old.

Delmer Lloyd Derby was born Oct 8, 1928 at Diamond, Wyo, the son of Ray Sydney Derby and Carrier Edith (Turner) Derby. He was graduated from Chugwater High school and attended the University of Wyoming.

Mr. Derby was a veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1951-53. He was an electrician by trade.

He marriedther former Mary Lou Wade in Laramie on Aug 20, 1955.

Del Derby had lived in Lander for 36 years. His family says he was an avid bowler and also enjoyed snowmobiling, four-wheeling, hunting and fishing. He was a past active member of the American Legion, Lander One-Shot Club, and the BPO Cleks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Derby of Lander; sons Lou Derby of Lander and his children Amanda, Jeremy and Hailey of Cheyenne, Courtney Derby of Lander, his daughter, Courtney and companion, Rebecca, all of Lander; daughter Carrie Jo Calvert and her husband Carl of Lander and their daughters Jacklynn, the five grandchildren and one great grandchild; a brother, Donald of Cheyenne; and a sister, Helen Klima and her husband Joe of Cheyenne.

Donna Shoyo was a homemaker. Her family says she enjoyed beadwork, cooking, her children and grandchildren.

HAMRICK - Hiram L. Hamrick

Services for Hiram L. Hamrick Sr. of Riverton are Wednesday Sept 27 at 2 p.m. from the Davis Funeral Home, with the Rev Dale Bascue of the United Methodist Church officiating. Burial follows at Mountain View Cemetery. Mr. Hamrick died Saturday, Sept 23, 2000, at Wind River Healthcare Center in Riverton. He was 77 years old.

McINTOSH - James L. McIntosh

James L. McIntosh of Jeffrey City died Monday, Sept 25, 2000 at Lander Valley Medical Center. He was 61 years old.

Services are Thursday, Sept 28, at 10 a.m. from the Davis Funeral Home. Burial will be at the family ranch near Jeffrey City.

James Lester McIntosh was born May 16, 1939, in Casper, the son of Patrick James and Harriet (Price) McIntosh. He was raised on the Split Rock Ranch on the Sweetwater River.

James was graduated from Fremont County Vocational High School in Lander in 1957. He joined the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Ranger.

James married Anne Chamberlin in 1966. They raised five daughters and also opened their heart and home to Tracy Eckhart of Lander, Corky Weber of Lander, David Washburn of Arizona and numerous others.

Mr. McIntosh was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the BPO Elks Lodge.

He was a member of the board of directors of the REA and president of the Wyoming Rodeo Association for several years.

His family says he was supportive in all school sports, as he drove the activity bus during the time his children were participating.

Mr. McIntosh was owner of 46 Welding during the boom times in Jeffrey City.

He was a 4-H leader.

His family describes Mr. McIntosh as "Helping in every way needed, and he was noted for his early breakfasts of sourdough pancakes."

He married Minnie Nipper in March 1996, and they continued ranching on Green Mountain and operated 46 Trucking.

The family says he enjoyed family gatherings and being with his friends.

James McIntosh is survived by his wife, Minnie; his mother, Harriet; daughters H. Renay Nichols of Riverton, Lisa J. Music of Gillette, Isabel R. Hiatt of Greeley, Colo, Kimberly A. Thornley of Riverton and Jesse Proctor of Riverton; nine grandchildren and eight step grandchildren; brothers Joseph and Charles; sisters Patsy Grandund of Lander; Kathy Asich of Great Falls, Mont, Margie Boxman of Haigler, Neb and Ruby Winsor of Kaycee; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick James McIntosh.

Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton.

STENQUIST - Carl E. Stenquist

Carl E. Stenquist died Sunday, Sept 24, 2000, at Wind River Healthcare Center in Riverton.

Services are Thursday, Sept 28 from the Center Congregational Church in Meriden, Conn. The Rev. George True officiates, and interment will be in the Meriden Cemetery.

Carl Edwin Stenquist was born July 18, 1911 in Stamford, Conn, the son of Carl and August W. (Hanson) Stenquist. He was a graduate of Stamford High School and lived in Stamford until 1962, when he moved to Meriden. He moved to Riverton in 1996 and made his home at the Owl Creek Apartments.

He married his wife, Irene, on June 15, 1937, in Springdale, Conn. She preceded him in death in 1995.

Mr. Stenquist was a member of the Center Congregational Church in Meriden.

Mr. Stenquist was a lithographer.

He was a 32nd degree Mason, and his family says his interests included gardening and photography.

Survivors include a son, Bruce C. Stenquist of Simsbury, Conn; daughter Karen E. Rowe of Dubois; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; a close friend and companion, Elaine.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

Memorials may be made to Riverton Home Care Services in care of the Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W. Main St., Riverton, 82501, which has charge of local arrangements.

CRIPPEN - Fedelena M. Crippen

Fedelena M. Crippen of rural Riverton died Monday, Sept 25, 2000 at Riverton Memorial Hospital. She was 81 years old.

Services are Friday, Sept 29 at 10 a.m. from the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton, with interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery

Fedelena M. Martinez was born April 20, 1919 in Las Vegas, NM, the daughter of Edward and Felipia Martinez.

She married Calvin J. Crippen Sr. She was a member of the Catholic faith.

Mrs. Crippen was a homemaker and house cleaner. She had lived in Riverton since 1940 and before that in Pueblo, Colo.

Her family says she enjoyed trips to Nevada for gambling, gardening, sewing, playing cards, cooking, baking, family and friends.

Survivors include sons Calvin J. Crippen Jr. of Salt Lake City; Lawrence Crippen, Clarence Crippen and Tony Crippen, all of Riverton; a daughter, Esther Crippen of Riverton; 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; a brother, Arthur Martinez of Riverton; and sisters Lucy Harris and Lupe Pardon of Riverton.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother; her husband; three sons, Delbert, Daniel and Arthur; two brothers and two sisters.

NELSON - Lillie E. Nelson

Memorial services for Lillie E. Nelson of Riverton are Tuesday, Oct 3 at 3:30 p.m. from the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton. Cremation has taken place.

Lillie E. Nelson was killed in a two-vehicle wreck west of Riverton Saturday evening, Sept 23, 2000, along with her friend Sasha Burton. Lillie was 16 years old.

Lillie E. Nelson was born Jan 7, 1984 in Reno, Nev., the daughter of Patrick Eugene Nelson and Sheila C. (Akins) Nelson.

She was a student at Riverton High School, having lived in Wyoming for the past nine years and prior to that in California.

Her family says Lillie enjoyed babysitting, her CD collection, going to the lake, hanging out with her friends and family.

Survivors include father Patrick Nelson and mother Sheila Keller; grandmother Inez Brandt of Dubois, great grandmother Lillie Paulsen of Dubois; a brother, Charles G. Clifton of California; an uncle, Barry Akins of Dubois; aunt Donna Akins of Riverton; a special great aunt, Peggy Thompson of Dubois; and cousins Craig Akins of Riverton and CArston Akins of Dubois.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Jesse Keller; step-father Tom Keller; paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Nelson of Melvin Ark; and maternal great grandfather Holger Paulsen of Dubois.

Sasha Burton was killed in a two-vehicle wreck Saturday evening, Sept 23, 2000, west of Riverton. Sasha was 15 years old.

Sasha Bonnie Burton was born May 26, 1985, in Riverton, the daughter of Michael Green Burton and Loretta Lynn (Ford) Burton.

She had lived her entire life in Riverton and was a sophomore at Riverton High School.

Her activities included singing, winning dance contests with her sister and "being the life of the party".

Survivors include her parents, Mike and Loretta Burton of Riverton; grandparents Bonnie and Jay Crawford of Riverton and Patricia Harnsberger of Phoenix, Ariz; great grandparents Carl and Elsie Ford of Riverton, Pat Porter and Junior Crawford "Papa Smurf" of Meeker, Colo; a brother, Jon Burton of the family home, and sister Quaila Burton of the family home.

Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton

Hiram Lorn Hamrick was born Jan 2, 1923 in Detroit Mich, the son of Hiram Lorn Hamrick and Josephine (Ruark) Hamrick.

Mr. Hamrick was a aerospace machinist and a veteran of World War II.

Amoung his survivors are his wife, Betty Jean (Shuette) Hamrick, and a son, Thomas Hamrick of Greybull.

The Davis Funeral Home of Riverton is in charge of arrangements.

FLOOD - Iris M. Flood

Iris M. Flood of Riverton died Wednesday, Sept 27, 2000 at Riverton Memorial Hospital. She was 74 years old.

At her request, no services will be held, and cremation has been arranged.

Iris M. Gebo was born Aug 18, 1926 in Billings, Mont, the daughter of Elmer Lee Gebo and Thelma Dolores (Dunsworth) Gebo.

She was a 1944 graduate of Park City High School in Park City, Mont. In the early years she worked for KGHL in Billings and as a beet clerk for Great Western Sugar Company.

On Oct 31 1944, she married Samuel B. Flood in Billings. He preceded her in death in 1995.

She had lived in Riverton since 1987, making her home at the Owl Creek Apartments.

Prior to moving to Riverton, she lived in Lovell, where she owned and operated several car dealerships with her husband and worked as bookkeeper in the businesses. they were also involved in agriculture, owning a breeding stock farm.

Mrs. Flood judged hogs at fairs, and the family was known for its quality swine breeding stock.

She was a member of the Montana Pork Producers, Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekah's and Job's Daughters.

Survivors include a son, Tom Flood and his wife Veronica of Lovell; daughter Mary Neil and her husband Curtis of Riverton; six grandchildren, Kelly Derryberry and husband Jeff of Gillette, Tommy Flood and wife Jessica of Lovel, Jeff Neil and wife Natalie of Salt Lake City, Marla Woods and husband Tim of Cody, Dana Flint and husband Shane of Sioux City, Iowa, AMS2 Samuel Neil in the United States Navy; and four great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Flood was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marian Frank of Seattle; her grandparents, Melvin and Julia Dunsworth of Park City, Mont; and a nephew, Sgt. Harold Frank of Seattle.

Memorials may be made to the Sam and Iris Flood Memorial Scholarship Fund for Montana State or for the Help for Health Hospice Home, in care of the Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W Main St., Riverton, 82501, which has charge of arrangements.

McDONALD - David E. McDonald

One-time Riverton teacher David E. McDonald died Monday, Sept 25, 2000 in Denver. He was 95 years old.

Services were Thursday from the Drinkwine Mortuary Chapel in Littleton, Colo and interment was at the Littleton Cemetery.

David E. McDonald was born July 21, 1905 in Clearwater, Neb. He married Inez Marie Taylor in Gurley, Neb. She preceded him in death.

The family says David's name will live on in the memorials of the many students whom he taught over his 44-year career in Nebraska and Wyoming public schools. His specialty was mathematics, and he taught at Worland High School for 25 years. His last teaching assignment was in Riverton.

He is survived by three daughters, Patricia Thomas of Denver, Sandra Winter of Riverton and Karyl Hill of Riverton; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

WELLER - Earl C. Weller

Earl C. Weller, age 80, died Wednesday, Sept 27, 2000, at Wind River Healthcare Center in Riverton.

Funeral liturgy will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept 30, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lander. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander, with military graveside rites.

Viewing is Friday from the Chapel of Mount Hope, Hudson's Funeral Home in Lander, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Vigil for the deceased will be said at 6 p.m. Friday.

Earl Christian Weller was born Thursday, March 4, 1920, at Carlsbad, Calif, the son of Henry and Ethel Weller. He was the eighth of nine children and spent many of his childhood years living on the Lone Jack Ranch in Green Valley. He was graduated from high school in Oceanside, Calif.

Mr. Weller enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Sept 9, 1938, and served in the Pacific until the beginning of World War II. He spent WWII in the Atlantic Theater and was part of the invasions of Sicily, Anzio and Salerno. He served on board the USS Lamson and USS Biscayne, starting as a seaman and ending his Navy career as a lieutenant junior grade. His family says he took pride in serving and defending his country during World War II and enjoyed sharing stories of his experiences.

During a leave in Boston, he met Janette "Mary Jane" Caggiano, and they were married on Sept 10, 1944. After the war, they made made their home in the Boston area, where Mr. Weller worked as a carpenter and builder and they raised six children. the Wellers moved to Washington state in 1977, where Mr. Weller was a building contractor until his retirement in 1980.

In 1988, the Wellers moved to Lander to live near their children and grandchildren. They soon made many friends, especially through Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Lander Sernior Citizens Center.

Mr. Weller was a lung cancer survivor and volunteered to talk to Lander school children about the ill effects of smoking. He also volunteered to do small woodworking projects for Lander organizations and the Catholic Church.

After losing his wife of 52 years, the family says, he felt fortunate to be able to visit and help friends in similar circumstances.

Earl E. Weller is survived by his children, Donna Weller Orr, Robert and Karl Weller of Lander, Mary Beth Weller Phillips of Los Alamos, N.M. and Alan Weller of Boston; sister Sylvia Bennett of Grant's Pass, Ore; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jeanne; his daughter, Earlene, his parents, brothers Cy, Jim, John and Troy; and sisters Pauline, Elma and Louise.

Hudson's Funeral Home of Lander is in charge of arrangements.
