Indian Tribes involved in the battle.

Northern Cheyenne

Led by Chiefs Dull Knife, White Bull and Roman Nose

Sioux Tribes

Led by Chiefs Red Cloud, Old Man Afraid of His Horses and Young Man Afraid of His Horses

Arapahoe

We have been unable at this point to find the name of the Chief who led the Arapahoe.

In his report later, General P. E. Conner estimated that 1,000 Indians had attacked Platte Station. Some estimates were as high as 2500 to 3000, but experts seem to agree that Gen. Connor's estimate is more in line with the actual numbers.

It is estimated by the experts that approximately two hundred Indian warriors were killed, and many more were severely wounded which took them out of future battles. However, the only account of Indian deaths came from George Bent, the son of a white man and a Cheyenne woman who lived his life with the Cheyennes and was present at Platte Bridge Station. He said in a letter later that eight Cheyenne warriors had died, but only listed seven:

CHEYENNE WARRIORS KILLED
High Wolf
Old Bull Hair
Roman Nose's brother
Spit
Stray Horse
Young Bear
Young Wolf

Note: We are open to corrections and additions to this list. We have discovered that not even the U.S. Army is totally positive as to who was killed at the battle.
